About Plastic Free Kitchen
Helping you reduce microplastic consumption, starting in the kitchen.
Plastic Free Kitchen is a curated shop for kitchen essentials made with less or no plastic where it matters most—especially around food, drinks, heat, storage, and everyday use.
We started with a simple idea: making thoughtful changes in the kitchen should feel practical, useful, and worth living with. You should not need to replace everything you own, decipher vague material claims, or choose between products that work well and products that better fit your priorities.
Why the kitchen?
The kitchen is where food, drinks, heat, storage, and repeated use come together. Plastic contact does not automatically mean microplastic consumption, and the science is still developing. But heat, wear, time, and storage conditions may affect how plastics break down or transfer particles and other substances.
That makes the kitchen a practical place to begin—one daily routine and one useful product at a time.
How we choose products
We look for reliable kitchen and family essentials that reduce plastic contact with food and drinks while still working well in real life. We pay particular attention to:
- The materials that touch food, water, coffee, tea, or hot meals
- The path food and drinks take through lids, spouts, reservoirs, filters, and seals
- How a product handles heat, wear, cleaning, and repeated use
- Whether the material information is clear enough to make an informed choice
- Whether the product is useful, durable, and realistic for everyday routines
A product does not need to contain zero plastic in every exterior component to be a meaningful improvement. We care most about what touches the things you eat and drink.
Practical progress, not perfection
Plastic is built into modern life, and replacing an entire kitchen overnight is neither realistic nor necessary. We believe in starting with high-use items, especially where heat, wear, and long food contact are involved, then building slowly.
Good enough is often better than perfect when it becomes the option you actually use every day.
